Innovative Coaching

A new coaching team has been assembled with Gareth Kear returning as Head Coach (Level 3) with Mike Davies (Level 2) assisting. In addition, as part of an overall strategy to develop individual as well as team skills, guest coaches will be brought in for training sessions. Rick Sellars and Wayne Thompson of Bristol are amongst those scheduled to play a key role.

New Captains

We will be skippered by Wayne Underwood, who leads from the front and his vice captain is the experienced ex Gloucestershire county player Tony Down. It is now our responsibility to support him and continue the achievements of last season. Wayne will have a uncanny understanding with his Second team captain who is his brother Sean. A number of social events and Pre-season games have been arranged please see www.thornburyrfc.com for more details.

Outstanding Colts

Last seasons most successful ever U17, South West plate champions and National Semi Finalists becomes this years Colts side. Great things are expected this year guys . . !

Training starts on Thursday 6th July 7pm at TRFC rugby club

New players will be made welcome so if you are relocating to the area or want to return the game after a lay off, please come along. There is a place for all sizes and talents.

Gareth Kear Head Coach comments: ‘I want us to train hard, play hard and then get in the bar together. We need healthy competition for places and consequently we will invest time into our 2nd team, who will be trained along the same lines as the 1st team and colts. It is important for the club to continue its development.
